Castor Oil Packs – also Rizinusölwickel – erleben auf TikTok und Instagram ein Revival.
Dabei wird ein Tuch in Rizinusöl getränkt, auf die Haut (meist den Bauch) gelegt und mit Folie oder Wärmflasche fixiert. Die Anwendung soll laut Internetnutzer angeblich den Stoffwechsel anregen, die Leber entgiften oder sogar beim Abnehmen helfen.
Medizinisch gesehen ist die Wirkung begrenzt. Zwar wirkt Rizinusöl innerlich eingenommen leicht abführend durch die Bildung von Ricinolsäure, die die Darmbewegung stimuliert. Auf der Haut hingegen fehlen klare Belege für eine systemische Wirkung oder Fettverbrennung. Studien deuten darauf hin, dass lediglich lokale Durchblutung und eventuell die Darmmotilität indirekt angeregt werden könnten.
Für eine tatsächliche Gewichtsreduktion sind Rizinusölwickel nicht geeignet. Sie können in Kombination mit Entspannung und Achtsamkeit als Wellness-Ritual dienen – aber nicht als Ersatz für Ernährung, Bewegung oder evidenzbasierte Therapien. Menschen mit empfindlicher Haut sollten zudem auf allergische Reaktionen achten.
