The erythropoietin level refers to the concentration of the hormone erythropoietin (EPO) in the blood. Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein hormone produced primarily by the kidneys. Its main function is to stimulate the production of red blood cells (erythropoiesis) in the bone marrow.
