Löwenzahn (Taraxacum officinale) ist eine in Europa weit verbreitete Heilpflanze, die in der Naturheilkunde seit Jahrhunderten genutzt wird. Besonders bekannt ist er für seine harntreibende, verdauungsfördernde und entgiftende Wirkung. Verwendet werden sowohl die Wurzeln als auch die Blätter und Blüten.
Die Bitterstoffe im Löwenzahn regen die Produktion von Verdauungssäften an und können bei Appetitlosigkeit, Völlegefühl oder Blähungen helfen. Zudem wirkt die Pflanze leicht harntreibend, ohne Kaliumverluste zu verursachen – was sie bei leichten Nierenschwächen oder zur Unterstützung von Leber und Galle interessant macht. Auch antioxidative und entzündungshemmende Eigenschaften wurden beschrieben.
Löwenzahn ist in Form von Tee, Presssaft, Kapseln oder als frisches Kraut in Salaten verwendbar. In der evidenzbasierten Pflanzenheilkunde gilt er als gut verträgliche Ergänzung bei funktionellen Verdauungsbeschwerden und zur Stoffwechselanregung.
