Rotwein ist ein alkoholisches Getränk, das durch die Gärung dunkler Trauben entsteht und reich an bioaktiven Pflanzenstoffen ist.
Insbesondere die Polyphenole, darunter das bekannte Resveratrol, stehen im Fokus gesundheitlicher Diskussionen über Rotwein. Diese Stoffe wirken als Antioxidantien und können Zellen vor oxidativem Stress schützen.
In zahlreichen Studien wurde untersucht, ob Rotweinkonsum mit einem reduzierten Risiko für Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen verbunden ist. In Maßen konsumiert – also etwa ein kleines Glas pro Tag für Frauen, zwei für Männer – kann Rotwein möglicherweise die Endothelfunktion verbessern, die Blutfettwerte positiv beeinflussen und Entzündungen hemmen. Entscheidend ist dabei der verantwortungsvolle Umgang mit Alkohol.
Trotz potenzieller Vorteile gilt: Alkohol ist ein Risikofaktor für Lebererkrankungen, Krebs und Suchtverhalten. Resveratrol ist auch in alkoholfreien Quellen wie Traubensaft, Erdnüssen und Beeren enthalten.
