Zinc gluconate is the zinc salt of gluconic acid and provides 14.35 % elemental zinc by weight.
Zinc gluconate is an organic zinc compound in which zinc is bound to gluconic acid. This form of the trace element is characterised by good tolerability and moderate bioavailability, which is why it is often used in zinc tablets and food supplements. Zinc gluconate offers an effective way of covering the daily zinc requirement and counteracting zinc deficiency.
Zinc has a wide range of effects in the body: Zinc strengthens the immune system, supports cell division and wound healing, promotes healthy skin, hair and nails and plays an important role in metabolism and hormone production. Zinc is particularly popular for colds, as it can reduce the duration and severity of infections and strengthens the body's own defences.
