Joint Complex was developed with a carefully balanced blend of glucosamine, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and native UC-II® type 2 collagen. What is UC-II® collagen and why is it special?
UC-II® is a patented, undenatured type 2 collagen. The key difference from conventional collagen hydrolysate lies in the manufacturing process: While ordinary collagen undergoes extensive processing, UC-II® retains its natural triple-helix structure. In scientific research, this “native” collagen is being studied for its interaction with the guts own immune system (Peyers patches)- a process known as “oral tolerance.” Unlike hydrolysates, which merely provide building blocks, UC-II® thus takes a systemic approach that has already been clinically studied at very low doses (40 mg).⁵
What is MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)?
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is an organic sulfur compound. Sulfur is a natural element found in almost all body cells as a component of important amino acids - particularly where proteins such as collagen or keratin are synthesized. In our complex, MSM serves as a source of this naturally occurring building block. The formula is supplemented with manganese, which has a scientifically proven role in normal connective tissue formation², as well as vitamin C, which supports normal collagen formation for healthy cartilage function.¹
