health nerds – Der Podcast über artgerechtes-leben
We have received many questions about the latest podcast episode: Warmth and heat stimuli: training for our body's evolutionary superpower. Here in the HEALTH NERDS consultation hour, our experts from the art’just science team provide answers:
“Why do some people sweat more than others?”
“How often should I go to the sauna to have long-term positive effects on my health?
“Are heat stimuli just as good for the cardiovascular system as exercise?
“Is there any scientifically reliable evidence that saunas actually prolong life?
“Which is better for your health: a hot sauna or exercising in the heat?
“Should you go to the sauna before or after sports training?” – Thank you for your many questions about our current episode “Heat and heat stimuli: Training for the evolutionary superpower of our body”. Matthias Baum from the HEALTH NERDS science team provides answers here in the consultation hour.
The main episode: What happens when our body is confronted with high temperatures? After our episodes about ice baths and cold stimuli, this time we focus on the opposite: the effects of heat and warmth on our organism.
The ability of humans to adapt to temperature fluctuations has been greatly reduced by our modern, evenly tempered living environment,
explains Matthias Baum from the HEALTH NERDS science team.
However, it is precisely this adaptability that is essential - especially when it comes to extreme heat: ""We humans have the unique ability to sweat systemically - everywhere on the body. The amount of fluid that our body can use for thermoregulation is almost unparalleled in the animal kingdom.
This evolutionary property plays a central role in our health, our immune system and our well-being. Without it, our survival would be jeopardized by strong temperature fluctuations: „If our body loses its ability to adapt, this massively impairs the function of our organs – our organism would not survive this ürde. But how do we recognize that our body is losing its temperature flexibility? How can we specifically train our ability to adapt? And how much heat is good for us before it becomes a real strain on our organism?
art-appropriate, health nerds – human, simply explained.
