health nerds – Der Podcast über artgerechtes-leben
We received a lot of questions about the latest podcast episode: Finally sleeping well: why millions of people lie awake at night. Here in the HEALTH NERDS consultation hour, our experts from the species-appropriate science team provide answers:
“Are there lifestyle factors or everyday habits that can promote or hinder the conversion of T4 to T3? And how can I tell if my body is having difficulties with this?
“Does it make sense to take your new shield gland preparation even if I no longer have shield glands?
“Is it really the case that the body's autoimmune reactions are directed against other organs such as the adrenal gland, for example after the thyroid gland has been eliminated, and attack them, which can even lead to Addison's disease?
“I take L-thyroxine regularly, can the additional intake of your thyroid complex cause anything to be overdosed or upset?
“If T4 is the inactive thyroid hormone, can I live without it?” – Thank you for your questions on our latest podcast episode “Thyroid: Hormones out of control”. Matthias Baum from the HEALTH NERDS science team provides answers here in the consultation hour.
On the main episode: The thyroid gland is an important regulator in the human body - but its function is impaired in one in three people. And this can quickly become a problem: The thyroid produces hormones that, for example, regulate our metabolism, keep our heart beating in time and keep our body temperature as constant as possible. In this episode of HEALTH NERDS, podcast host Felix Moese and health scientist Matthias Baum talk about factors that throw our thyroid out of balance: If this tiny organ in our throat produces too much (hyperthyroidism) or too little (hypothyroidism) of a certain hormone, the effects can be significant: Stubborn fatigue, physical weakness, uncontrolled weight gain, sudden hair loss, a strong feeling of cold or heat, dry skin, palpitations, increased nervousness or even depressive moods. What warning signs should we look out for? What role do micronutrients such as iodine, selenium and zinc play in thyroid health? Why do women in particular often suffer from a chronically inflamed thyroid (Hashimoto's disease)? How do lifestyle, stress and diet affect this small organ? And what can we do specifically to balance our thyroid gland? HEALTH NERDS. Man, simply explained.
