Training together as a team at a few meters above sea level in the fresh air, just before the freezing cold winter banishes almost all activities indoors. That was our goal at our first species-appropriate performance camp at the end of October 2021, which took place in the Austrian Alps.

Why a camp?

How do you enjoy strength and endurance training to the full? And how do we unite all our athletes from different disciplines under our brand? Ideally as a team in a species-appropriate training camp – ideally against a breathtaking Alpine backdrop.

At least that's what our consultant for performance and professional sport Rouven Thies thought and quickly grabbed the members of our new performance team to get to know them for the first time and took them to a joint training camp in Saalbach, Austria.

What is the goal?

The athletes Yannick Obenauer, Ashton Du Plessis, Holly Du Plessis, Markus Frison and boxer Beke Bas worked out there on four sunny days in the middle of untouched forests and on mountain and reservoir lakes in the Kitzbühel Alps. The sessions were led by fitness coach Yannick Obenauer, freshly crowned HYROX World Champion in the Masters Category (age group 50-54). So the focus was clear: first-class strength and endurance training in picturesque surroundings!

In this setting, we combined high-end sporting performance and nature. The goal was always to promote better health and take everyone on this species-appropriate journey. The plan included challenging outdoor training alternating with sweat-inducing indoor sessions and a comprehensive exchange between the functional fitness and boxing athletes.

What was the program?

The team completed their strength training in the Crossfit box at the Saalbach workshop – but only as preparation for the highlights ahead: In addition to runs through gorges and breathtaking mountain trails, the motivation kick par excellence was the team training at the Kölnbreinsperre – Österreichs höchste Staudamm.

Who performs best?

But what basis is necessary to always deliver the best possible performance and to shine? We are not reinventing the wheel with our answer when we focus on a species-appropriate and balanced diet. However, the modern (working) world and meritocracy place more demands on us than we often think.

It is essential for us to provide everyone with the correct, complementary supplements and informative courses to help you become more resilient and perform better - whether you're doing sport or working, indoors or outdoors.

what's-next?

The first artgerecht Performance Camp in Saalbach was just the start of a planned series of training camps. In the future, our performance team athletes will compete at a wide variety of events, such as the new sports movement Hyrox, which is generating enthusiasm worldwide.

Are you an athlete and want to become part of our performance team? Please introduce yourself with your track record or your social media presence to us. We look forward to hearing from you!
