When it comes to losing weight and burning fat, the key lies in insulin: this messenger substance forms fat deposits and holds the fat in them. The key biochemical mechanism: as long as the insulin level is high - and it rises when we eat short-acting carbohydrates and sugar - we cannot break down any fat!
