Wissenswertes über "Anti-inflammatory"
Inflammation inhibitors - also called anti-inflammatory drugs - are substances that dampen acute or chronic inflammatory processes in the body.
Inflammation is basically a sensible defence reaction of the immune system, but if it is chronic, silent or systemic it damages the organism. Such silent inflammations (silent inflammation) are considered to be a contributory cause of numerous diseases of civilisation such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune diseases, neurodegeneration, obesity and skin diseases.
Classic conventional anti-inflammatory drugs such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) - e.g. ibuprofen or diclofenac - work quickly, but not without side effects. Prolonged use can put a strain on the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys and heart. This is why there is growing interest in natural anti-inflammatories that are tolerated over the long term and also have an antioxidant or immunomodulatory effect. These include curcumin, Omega-3 fatty acids, Quercetin, Astaxanthin, Polyphenols and functional proteins such as lactoferrin.
Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and immunoregulatory effect. Studies show that it reduces inflammatory cytokines, protects the intestinal barrier and dampens the activity of overactive immune cells. It is therefore also used as a systemic anti-inflammatory for irritable bowel syndrome, acne, joint problems and autoimmune processes - with good tolerability and a holistic approach. In combination with a low-inflammatory diet, sufficient sleep, exercise and stress reduction, this results in an effective overall concept for active inflammation regulation.
