Fußpilz (medizinisch: Tinea pedis) ist eine der häufigsten Pilzinfektionen der Haut.
Ausgelöst wird Fußpilz meist durch Dermatophyten, insbesondere Trichophyton rubrum, die sich in feuchtwarmer Umgebung wie Schwimmbädern, Duschen oder Schuhen besonders gut vermehren. Die Infektion betrifft in der Regel die Zwischenzehenräume, kann sich aber auch auf Fußsohle und Nägel ausweiten.
Typische Symptome sind Juckreiz, Schuppung, Rötung und kleinflächige Hautrisse. Unbehandelt kann sich die Infektion ausbreiten oder andere Hautbereiche erfassen. Besonders betroffen sind Menschen mit geschwächtem Immunsystem, Diabetes oder starkem Schwitzen. Auch synthetisches Schuhwerk kann das Risiko erhöhen, da es die Feuchtigkeit staut.
Die Behandlung erfolgt lokal mit Antimykotika in Form von Cremes, Gels oder Sprays. Wichtig sind außerdem konsequente Hygienemaßnahmen, das Trocknen der Füße nach dem Waschen und das Vermeiden von Barfußlaufen in öffentlichen Nassbereichen. Mit frühzeitiger Behandlung ist Fußpilz gut heilbar.
