Schwarzkümmelöl, gewonnen aus den Samen der Pflanze Nigella sativa, ist ein traditionelles Naturheilmittel mit breitem Wirkungsspektrum.
Schwarzkümmelöl enthält über 100 bioaktive Inhaltsstoffe, darunter besonders das antioxidativ wirksame Thymochinon, sowie ätherische Öle, ungesättigte Fettsäuren und Bitterstoffe. Seit Jahrhunderten wird es in der arabischen, ayurvedischen und asiatischen Heilkunde verwendet, vor allem zur Stärkung des Immunsystems, zur Linderung chronischer Entzündungen und zur Hautpflege.
Wissenschaftlich untersucht wurde Schwarzkümmelöl vor allem hinsichtlich seiner antientzündlichen, antioxidativenund antimikrobiellen Eigenschaften. Studien zeigen positive Effekte bei Asthma, allergischer Rhinitis, Bluthochdruck und entzündlichen Hauterkrankungen wie Neurodermitis. Auch bei Stoffwechselstörungen, z. B. erhöhten Blutzucker- oder Cholesterinwerten, konnten Verbesserungen beobachtet werden. Verantwortlich ist vor allem Thymochinon, das entzündungsfördernde Botenstoffe wie TNF-α oder Interleukin-6 hemmen kann.
Die Anwendung erfolgt innerlich (z. B. 1–2 TL täglich pur oder in Kapseln) oder äußerlich (z. B. bei Neurodermitis oder Akne). Das Öl hat einen charakteristisch würzigen Geschmack und sollte kaltgepresst, ungefiltert und lichtgeschützt eingenommen werden. Nebenwirkungen sind selten, können aber bei Überdosierung oder bei empfindlichen Personen (z. B. mit Magenschleimhautreizungen) auftreten. Schwangere sollten vor der Einnahme Rücksprache mit einem Arzt halten.
