Brokkoli gehört zur Familie der Kreuzblütler und ist eng verwandt mit Blumenkohl und Grünkohl.
Besonders bekannt ist Brokkoli für seinen hohen Gehalt an Vitamin C, Folsäure, Kalium und sekundären Pflanzenstoffen wie Sulforaphan, einem bioaktiven Senfölglykosid mit antioxidativer und entzündungshemmender Wirkung.
Die enthaltenen Antioxidantien unterstützen den Zellschutz und können helfen, oxidativem Stress entgegenzuwirken.
