In the dietary supplement industry, cetyl myristoleate is typically derived from beef tallow.

Cetyl myristoleate belongs to the class of wax esters and is a monounsaturated fatty acid with a C14 carbon chain. It is primarily marketed as a dietary supplement intended to support joint and cartilage health.

Mechanism of Action

The precise mechanism of action of cetyl myristoleate has not yet been fully established by science. Several mechanisms are discussed:

Lubricating effect: CMO is proposed to act as a natural lubricant for joints, reducing friction in cartilage tissue.
