Die DGKO (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinder-Osteopathie e.V.) ist eine medizinisch-fachliche Gesellschaft zur Förderung, Weiterbildung und Qualitätssicherung der osteopathischen Behandlung von Kindern.
Die DGKO richtet sich vor allem an Ärzte und qualifizierte Therapeuten, die osteopathische Verfahren bei Säuglingen, Kindern und Jugendlichen anwenden. Ziel der Gesellschaft ist es, kinderosteopathische Konzepte fachlich fundiert weiterzuentwickeln und in einen medizinischen Kontext einzuordnen. Dabei stehen altersgerechte Diagnostik, sichere Anwendung und eine strukturierte Weiterbildung im Mittelpunkt.
Im fachlichen Alltag organisiert die DGKO Fort- und Weiterbildungsangebote, Fachveranstaltungen und Kongresse mit Schwerpunkt auf Kinder-Osteopathie. Sie fördert den interdisziplinären Austausch zwischen Pädiatrie, Osteopathie und anderen medizinischen Fachrichtungen. Zudem wirkt die Gesellschaft an der Erarbeitung von Qualitätsstandards und Empfehlungen für die osteopathische Behandlung im Kindesalter mit.
Die DGKO ist kein Berufsverband im klassischen Sinne, sondern eine fachlich und wissenschaftlich orientierte Gesellschaft. Die Mitgliedschaft richtet sich an medizinische Fachpersonen mit besonderem Interesse an osteopathischer Kinderbehandlung. Ziel ist es, eine qualitätsgesicherte und verantwortungsvolle Anwendung osteopathischer Verfahren bei Kindern zu unterstützen.
