In the European Union, E1422 is classified as an approved food additive under the category of modified starches.

No specific ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) has been established for E1422 in the EU, as it is considered toxicologically safe. Its use is governed by the principle of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or by specific maximum usage levels depending on the food category.
