Health Assessment

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has not established a specific ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) for E570, as these fatty acids are natural food components that the body metabolizes normally.
In very high amounts, saturated fatty acids such as stearic acid and palmitic acid may contribute to elevated LDL cholesterol levels. However, the quantities consumed through E570 as a food additive are generally negligible.
Possible Intolerances
Individuals with known fatty acid intolerances or sensitivities should review the ingredient lists of food products. Such reactions are, however, very rare.
Labeling and Authorization
E570 is approved as a food additive in the European Union and is regulated under EU Food Additives Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008. On food ingredient labels, E570 is listed either by its E-number or as fatty acids.
