Fucoxanthin is a naturally occurring carotenoid pigment found predominantly in edible brown seaweeds such as wakame (Undaria pinnatifida), hijiki (Sargassum fusiforme), and kombu (Laminaria japonica). It gives these seaweeds their characteristic brown-orange coloring and plays a vital role in photosynthesis.
