Schachtelhalm, auch als Equisetum arvense oder Zinnkraut bekannt, ist eine alte Heilpflanze mit einem besonders hohen Gehalt an Kieselsäure und Mineralstoffen.
Bereits in der Antike wurde Schachtelhalm zur Wundheilung und bei Nierenleiden genutzt. Heute wird die Heilpflanze vor allem in der Naturheilkunde geschätzt, sowohl innerlich als Tee als auch äußerlich in Form von Umschlägen oder Badezusätzen.
Ein zentrales Anwendungsgebiet ist die Unterstützung von Haut, Haaren und Nägeln, da die enthaltene Siliciumverbindung das Bindegewebe stärkt. Auch bei Blasenentzündungen und Reizblase findet Schachtelhalm Verwendung. Er wirkt leicht harntreibend und entzündungshemmend.
