Things worth knowing about "Intestinal rehabilitation"

Intestinal rehabilitation is about rebalancing the intestinal flora and improving intestinal function.

Intestinal rehabilitation is about rebalancing the intestinal flora and improving intestinal function.

It is often recommended for digestive problems, weakened immune defences or chronic complaints such as bloating, constipation or diarrhoea.

The microorganisms in the intestine are involved in digestion, protect against pathogens and even influence mood via the gut-brain axis. An unbalanced intestinal flora - caused by stress, poor diet or antibiotics - can lead to so-called dysbiosis. This is often the starting point for chronic complaints, allergies and inflammation.

Intestinal cleansing usually consists of several steps:

First, the intestines are cleansed with natural fibre or mild herbs. This fibre frees the intestines from deposits. The next step focuses on building up healthy intestinal flora. This is where probiotic cultures such as lactobacilli come into play, in the form of probiotic preparations or through food. Food contains probiotics, especially in natural yoghurt, buttermilk, sauerkraut, kimchi or various types of cheese, which promote good intestinal bacteria. In the final step, support from nutrients is particularly important. Prebiotic substances such as inulin, which serve as food for the beneficial intestinal bacteria, help here. Various vitamins such as vitamin D, which strengthens the intestinal barrier and supports the immune system, or trace elements such as zinc, which promotes the regeneration of the intestinal mucosa and has an anti-inflammatory effect, also have a supporting effect.
