Der MCV-Wert (Mean Corpuscular Volume) ist ein wichtiger Blutwert, der das durchschnittliche Volumen der roten Blutkörperchen (Erythrozyten) im Blut misst.
Der MCV-Wert gibt an, wie groß die einzelnen roten Blutkörperchen im Durchschnitt sind und wird in Femtolitern angegeben. Er ist ein Teil des blutbilddiagnostischen Tests und wird häufig verwendet, um verschiedene Anämien (Blutarmut) zu diagnostizieren und zu differenzieren.
Ein normaler MCV-Wert liegt in der Regel zwischen 80 und 100 fL. Ein niedriger MCV-Wert (mikrozytäre Anämie) weist auf kleinere, unterdurchschnittlich große rote Blutkörperchen hin, was oft auf Eisenmangel oder Thalassämie hinweist. Ein hoher MCV-Wert (makrozytäre Anämie) deutet auf größere Blutkörperchen hin, was häufig bei Vitamin-B12-Mangel, Folsäuremangel oder bestimmten Lebererkrankungen zu beobachten ist.
Zusammen mit anderen Blutwerten, wie Hämoglobin, Hämatokrit und dem Retikulozytenwert, hilft der MCV-Wert, die Ursache einer Anämie zu bestimmen. Er spielt auch eine Rolle bei der Diagnose von Blutgerinnungsstörungen und Knochenmarkserkrankungen. Eine Abweichung vom Normalwert kann auf ein zugrunde liegendes Gesundheitsproblem hinweisen und sollte ärztlich abgeklärt werden.
