Things worth knowing about "Orthopaedist"

An orthopaedist is a specialist in diseases of the musculoskeletal system who deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of complaints of bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments

The aim of orthopaedics is to restore or maintain mobility and freedom from pain . The specialist field of orthopaedics includes both congenital deformities and degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis, back pain, herniated discs or sports-related injuries.

In everyday practice, an orthopaedic surgeon treats patients with complaints such as knee pain, shoulder pain, foot misalignments, hip problems or spinal curvatures. Diagnostics include clinical examinationsimaging procedures such as X-rays, MRI or ultrasound and functional analyses. Therapy ranges from conservative methods such as physiotherapy, supports, injections or acupuncture to surgical interventions, such as joint replacement or disc surgery.

Some orthopaedic surgeons specialise in certain areas, e.g.sports orthopaedics, paediatric orthopaedics or spinal surgery. In modern orthopaedics biological procedures are also becoming increasingly important - such as the use of autologous blood (PRP), hyaluronic acid or shock wave therapy. Also preventive approaches such as posture analysis, muscle building and movement coaching are important components of orthopaedic care. Orthopaedists often work on an interdisciplinary basis with physiotherapists, rheumatologists or pain therapists .
