Das Roemheld-Syndrom beschreibt eine funktionelle Störung, bei der es durch übermäßige Gasansammlungen im Magen-Darm-Trakt zu Herzbeschwerden kommen kann.
Die Symptome des Roemheld-Syndroms ähneln oft denen einer Angina pectoris, sind aber nicht durch eine kardiale Grunderkrankung bedingt. Vielmehr führt die Dehnung des Magens zu einer Reizung des Zwerchfells und des Vagusnervs, wodurch vegetative Reaktionen ausgelöst werden können.
Typische Beschwerden sind Herzstolpern, Engegefühl in der Brust, Atemnot, Schwindel, Panikattacken oder Unruhe nach dem Essen. Auslöser können blähende Speisen, hastiges Essen, Reflux, ein Reizmagen oder eine Fehlbesiedelung des Darms (SIBO) sein. Besonders anfällig sind Personen mit vegetativer Dysbalance, Reizdarm oder einem schwachen Zwerchfell.
