Wissenswertes über "Sage"
Sage has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and astringent properties. Learn how it supports throat health, sweating regulation and digestion.
Sage (Salvia officinalis) is one of the oldest known medicinal herbs and has been used since antiquity to treat inflammation in the mouth and throat, excessive sweating, and digestive complaints. The leaves contain essential oils such as thujone, 1,8-cineole, and borneol, as well as tannins and flavonoids, which provide anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, astringent, and sweat-reducing effects.
Traditionally, sage is used as a gargle, tea, or lozenge for sore throat, gingivitis, and hoarseness. It also helps regulate perspiration, making it popular during menopausal hot flashes.
In addition, sage supports digestion by reducing bloating and soothing gastrointestinal inflammation.
