While legal in Sweden, snus is banned in most EU countries. Although it avoids harmful smoke byproducts, studies have linked snus to an increased risk of oral and pancreatic cancer as well as cardiovascular disease. Experts caution against framing snus as a “safe” alternative to cigarettes.
