Das Vergissmeinnicht (Myosotis) ist eine zarte, meist himmelblaue Blume, die in vielen Regionen Europas, Asiens und Nordamerikas wächst. Sie gehört zur Familie der Raublattgewächse (Boraginaceae) und ist besonders als Symbol für Treue, Erinnerung und Liebe bekannt. In der Natur kommt es sowohl in Wäldern und Wiesen als auch in Gärten als Zierpflanze vor.
Neben seiner symbolischen Bedeutung besitzt das Vergissmeinnicht auch sekundäre Pflanzenstoffe, darunter Flavonoide und Gerbstoffe, die in der Volksmedizin traditionell bei leichten Entzündungen, Hautreizungen oder zur Wundheilung eingesetzt wurden. Wissenschaftlich gesicherte therapeutische Effekte sind jedoch begrenzt, und die Pflanze wird heute vorwiegend aus ästhetischen Gründen kultiviert.
Pflegeleicht und anpassungsfähig gedeiht das Vergissmeinnicht sowohl im Halbschatten als auch in sonnigen Lagen. Es eignet sich für Frühjahrsbepflanzungen, Steingärten und als Schnittblume. Für medizinische Zwecke sollte es nur nach Rücksprache mit einem Fachkundigen genutzt werden, da nicht alle Inhaltsstoffe vollständig auf ihre Sicherheit untersucht sind.
