Wound healing therapy refers to all medical, nursing, and therapeutic interventions aimed at supporting, accelerating, or restoring the natural healing process of a wound. Negative pressure wound therapy (also known as vacuum-assisted closure, VAC) involves applying a specialized foam dressing to the wound and using controlled suction. This promotes blood flow, reduces edema, and accelerates granulation tissue formation. It is commonly used for deep or poorly healing wounds.
In hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the patient breathes pure oxygen under elevated atmospheric pressure. The increased tissue oxygen level promotes cell division, combats anaerobic pathogens, and improves healing of ischemic wounds.

For infected wounds, antiseptics such as polyhexanide, octenidine, or povidone-iodine are used for local disinfection. In cases of systemic infection, antibiotic therapy may be required.
