Zinc deficiency describes a condition in which the body does not have the necessary amount of zinc available, which can lead to a variety of symptoms and health impairments.
Zinc is an essential trace element that is involved in more than 300 enzymatic processes. It plays a central role in the immune system, cell division, wound healing, growth and the function of skin, hair and nails. Symptoms of zinc deficiency include a weakened immune system (more frequent infections), vdelayed wound healing, hair loss, brittle nails, skin problems such as acne or eczema, diminished sense of taste, concentration disorders and fatigue.
