We work with natural raw materials without chemical additives - almost always in organic quality. We maintain this value in our iconic dark glasses, which do not allow visible light to pass through and therefore preserve nutrients for longer. But what is the technology behind it?
Light is the origin of all life – Without sunlight, nothing thrives or grows. However, light also ensures that flora and fauna eventually perish: Flowers wilt and food withers. This natural ripening process is not slowed down by normal, transparent glass; it only protects against direct physical influences or contamination. This is where the violet glass we use comes into play. While conventional and green glass permeates the entire spectrum of light, which inevitably has a negative effect on the stored raw materials, amber glass only blocks UVA radiation. Black glass blocks all light frequencies except for infrared light rays - including visible light. Our violet glasses, on the other hand, utilize the knowledge of biophotonics – the physical interaction of organic materials with photons, i.e. light. As a result, they also prevent indirect influences on the stored or packaged (natural) raw materials and offer enhanced product protection. They filter out the invisible infrared and violet light frequencies (UVA rays) from the light spectrum – therefore only allow these active light rays to pass through – and prevent the penetration of light frequencies that are visible to us humans. Any glass that allows visible light frequencies to pass through to the raw materials protects the materials stored in it only from direct influences, such as contamination or direct storage in the air. Indirect influences from light, which accelerate spoilage, for example, are not taken into account. Thus, the violet glasses act as a natural light protection, which preserves the quality of our valuable raw materials and ingredients and thus prevents faster spoilage. The main benefit of using violet glass is that the vitamins, minerals and trace elements of natural origin (often obtained by fermentation) that we use remain active in our products for longer and therefore retain their value. In addition to this uniquely protective effect, the violet jars have all the usual and desired advantages of glass packaging. They are inherently more sustainable than conventional plastic packaging, dishwasher-safe and therefore almost endlessly reusable. If the glasses do need to be disposed of, they are 100% recyclable via the green glass container.
