The Cologne List ® is an important initiative in competitive sports that offers athletes guidance in the selection of nutritional supplements.
The Cologne List® is an important initiative in competitive sport that provides athletes with guidance when selecting nutritional supplements. Its aim is to reduce the risk of unintentional doping offences, as food supplements can in some cases be contaminated with banned substances. The list contains products that have been tested by independent institutes for prohibited substances such as anabolic steroids or stimulants.
In high-performance sport in particular, athletes are often under great pressure to maximise their performance. Many turn to dietary supplements to provide their bodies with additional support. However, as even minor contamination of a product with doping substances can have serious consequences for an athlete's career, the Cologne List® offers valuable guidance. It includes food supplements that have been tested in specialised laboratories for possible contamination and minimise the risk of a doping violation.
Products included on the Cologne List® are regularly tested, but it remains important to emphasise that even inclusion on the list does not provide an absolute guarantee that a product is completely free of undesirable substances. However, the likelihood of contamination is significantly reduced.
For athletes performing at a high level, the Cologne List® provides a trustworthy basis for selecting supplements with a lower risk. It is an important tool to protect an athlete's career from the consequences of an unintentional doping offence while supporting their own performance legally and safely.
All in all, the Cologne List® is an indispensable component of doping prevention in sport and makes a valuable contribution to preserving the integrity of sport.
