As a protein of the human immune system, lactoferrin is one of the most valuable compounds in the body. We receive the first large portion via breast milk. Small amounts of lactoferrin are produced by the body itself and are contained in almost all body fluids such as drinks or saliva. A recent in-vitro study even suggests that the ingredient could have a protective effect against COVID-19. At artgerecht, we extract lactoferrin from cow's milk for our products, as human and bovine lactoferrin from cow's milk are chemically very similar. We use lactoferrin both in our combination products, such as NATURAL IRON (our iron supplement), and in a dosage of 200 mg lactoferrin per capsule in our LFERRIN.
The results of Global Market Insights (GMI), a global market research institute, which estimates the global market for lactoferrin at 265 million euros by 2027, also show that we at artgerecht have done everything right so far. According to GMI, this increase is partly due to growing consumer awareness of the various health benefits of Lactoferrin. The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic since the beginning of 2020 has also played a significant role.
We continue to rely on our multitalent lactoferrin, we support the ongoing further research of the protein and the development of new, innovative dosage forms with leading European institutes and in cooperation with universities.
