Artgerecht Food Facts: What makes this posset healthy?
Oranges provide a high amount of vitamin C, which plays a central role in the normal function of the immune system, supports collagen synthesis and acts as a powerful antioxidant. In addition, oranges contain secondary plant compounds such as flavonoids that may have anti-inflammatory effects. Their high water content adds freshness and supports hydration.
Manuka honey is far more than a natural sweetener. It contains the antibacterial molecule methylglyoxal (MGO), which gives it unique properties. Studies show that Manuka honey can accelerate wound healing, exert antibacterial effects and support balance in the gut. It is also rich in enzymes and has prebiotic effects.
Agar-agar, a plant-based gelling agent derived from seaweed, is rich in soluble fibre that can promote intestinal peristalsis and support healthy digestion. It contains hardly any calories and is an excellent alternative to animal gelatine – ideal for vegan and vegetarian recipes.
Cinnamon not only provides a warm aroma, but also bioactive compounds such as cinnamaldehyde, which exhibit anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and possibly blood-sugar-regulating effects. In traditional naturopathy, cinnamon is used to stimulate digestion and support metabolism.
