A chiropractor is a specialist in the manual treatment of functional disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system.
The aim of chiropractic work is to release so-called "blockages" in joints - especially in the spine - by means of targeted adjustments .spine - through targeted adjustments and thus alleviate pain, restricted movement or neurological irritation. Chiropractors often work on an interdisciplinary basis with doctors, orthopaedists and physiotherapists.
In Germany, the professional title is not legally protected, which can lead to confusion: Chiropractors refer to both health practitioners with advanced training and internationally trained, academically certified chiropractors. The latter have completed several years of university study with clinical training in countries such as the USA, Canada or Switzerland. In contrast, there are also physicians with additional training in chiropractic, who are legally authorised to make adjustments.A reputable chiropractor has in-depth knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and diagnostics. Treatment is only carried out after careful anamnesis and exclusion of contraindications. Particularly important is the safe application of manipulative techniques - e.g. on the cervical spine. In addition to adjustment, chiropractors often advise on posture improvement, exercise, nutrition and anti-inflammatory micronutrients such as omega-3, Magnesium or Curcumin.

- Collaboration with doctors or other therapists in complex cases
