Environmental toxin elimination refers to targeted measures and procedures designed to remove harmful substances originating from the environment – known as environmental toxins – from the human body, or to accelerate their excretion. These substances include heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, as well as organic compounds like pesticides, plasticizers (phthalates), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and other persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Exposure can occur through contaminated food, drinking water, air, or skin contact.

Environmental toxins enter the human body through various routes:

- Milk thistle (silymarin): Considered hepatoprotective and may protect liver cells from toxic substances. Clinical studies support hepatoprotective effects.
- Glutathione and N-acetylcysteine (NAC): Glutathione is the liver's primary endogenous antioxidant. NAC is a precursor and can promote glutathione synthesis.
- Zinc and selenium: Essential trace elements required for the function of detoxification enzymes.
Important: Dietary supplements do not replace medical treatment and should not be taken independently if there is a specific suspicion of toxin exposure.
