Physiological Background

- Sepsis, burns, and traumatic injury
4. Lymphatic Insufficiency
When lymphatic drainage is impaired or obstructed, tissue fluid accumulates – a condition known as lymphedema. Causes include:

- Surgical removal of lymph nodes (e.g., after cancer surgery)
- Parasitic infections (filariasis)
5. Increased Interstitial Osmotic Pressure
