The MCHC value (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration) indicates the average haemoglobin concentration in the red blood cells (erythrocytes).
Haemoglobin is the iron-containing protein that is responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood. The MCHC value is given in grams per decilitre (g/dl) and is normally between A low MCHC value often occurs with iron deficiency anaemia, as a lack of iron reduces haemoglobin formation.
