In addition, retinol helps to refine the skin's appearance by reducing pigmentation spots and evening out skin tone. Retinol has also proven effective in the treatment of acne, as it cleanses the pores, inhibits inflammation and regulates sebum production. Retinol is a scientifically well-researched active ingredient that can bring about visible improvements in the appearance of the skin when used consistently and correctly. 

Application of retinol

The correct use of retinol is crucial to achieve optimal results and avoid skin irritation. It is recommended to apply retinol products in the evening to cleansed skin, as the active ingredient can make the skin more sensitive to light. Initially, retinol should only be applied once or twice a week to slowly acclimatise the skin to the active ingredient. Over time, the frequency of application can be increased to every other day or daily, depending on tolerance. It is important to always use sun protection with at least light protection factor 30 during the day to protect the skin from UV damage.
People with sensitive skin should use retinol with caution or use milder alternatives such as retinyl palmitate. The use of products containing retinol is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as high doses of vitamin A can harm the unborn child.
