One of its main tasks is to regulate the calcium and phosphate balance by promoting the absorption of calcium in the intestine and ensuring that this mineral is deposited in the bones. This is essential for bone health and the prevention of bone weakness or osteoporosis. In addition, ergocalciferol plays a role in the immune system by reducing susceptibility to infections.
