What Is Ozempic Face?

Ozempic Face is a colloquial term used to describe the striking loss of facial volume and fat that some individuals experience following rapid weight loss induced by GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide (brand names: Ozempic, Wegovy). While the term originates from the drug Ozempic, the phenomenon itself is not exclusive to this medication — it can occur with any form of significant and rapid weight loss, including bariatric surgery or intensive dietary programs.

The loss of facial volume is a direct consequence of the reduction of subcutaneous fat throughout the body, including the face. Several factors contribute to the severity of this effect:
