UV radiation is part of sunlight and consists of invisible electromagnetic waves, which are divided into three categories: UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.
While UV-C rays are almost completely absorbed by the earth's atmosphere, UV-A and UV-B rays penetrate to the earth's surface and affect our skin and health.UV-A rays penetrate deep into the skin and promote the formation of free radicals. One natural antioxidant is astaxanthin, which is obtained from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. It naturally protects the skin from UV damage and supports the cells by neutralising free radicals and thus preventing damage to the cell structure. Thanks to its antioxidant effect, astaxanthin protects the skin against loss of elasticity, promotes moisture retention and can therefore reduce the depth of wrinkles. It acts as a natural sunscreen from the inside, which does not replace the external application of sun creams, but supplements it.
