Mechanism of Action
Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone functions as a UVB filter. Its molecular structure absorbs ultraviolet radiation in the UVB spectrum (approximately 280–320 nm) and converts it into harmless thermal energy before it can penetrate deeper layers of the skin and cause cellular damage. This protective mechanism helps to prevent:
- Sunburn (erythema)
- Photoaging (premature skin aging caused by UV exposure)
- DNA damage in skin cells, which may increase the risk of skin cancer
