Macronutrient analysis is a nutritional assessment method used to determine the quantities of the three primary energy-providing nutrients in food or meals: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats (lipids). These three nutrient groups are referred to as macronutrients because they are consumed in relatively large amounts and supply the majority of the energy the human body requires for daily function.

Carbohydrates

Unsaturated fatty acids – found in olive oil, nuts, avocados, and fatty fish – are considered particularly health-promoting. Recommended Macronutrient Distribution
Optimal macronutrient distribution varies depending on age, health status, and level of physical activity. General guidance from the WHO and national dietary authorities suggests the following distribution of total daily energy intake:
- Carbohydrates: 45–60 percent
- Fats: 25–35 percent
- Proteins: 10–20 percent
These reference values may intentionally differ in specific dietary approaches such as ketogenic or high-protein diets. Any significant deviation from standard recommendations should be undertaken with professional nutritional guidance.
