Safety and Health Assessment
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has evaluated E444 and concluded that it is safe for human consumption when used within the established limits. The Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) has been set by EFSA at 20 mg/kg body weight per day. Under normal dietary conditions, this limit is unlikely to be exceeded.
Potential Side Effects
When used as intended and within legal limits, no adverse health effects are known. There is no evidence of carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, or reproductive toxicity.
