Safety and Regulatory Status

No Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) has been established, meaning the substance is considered safe at typical consumption levels. The WHO and FAO also classify cellulose as a safe food additive.
Possible Side Effects
No harmful effects are known at normal consumption levels. At very high intakes, as with other dietary fibers, symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, or changes in bowel habits may occur.
