GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide belonging to the class of growth hormone secretagogues (GHS). GHRP-6 mimics the action of the endogenous peptide hormone ghrelin and binds to the same receptor, known as the GHS receptor type 1a (GHSR-1a).
Mechanism of Action
GHRP-6 exerts its effects primarily through two mechanisms:
- Binding to the GHSR-1a receptor: Activation of this receptor in the pituitary gland directly stimulates the release of growth hormone (somatotropin).

- Ipamorelin: A more selective GH secretagogue with fewer effects on cortisol and prolactin.
- Sermorelin / CJC-1295: GHRH analogues that act through a different receptor pathway.
- Ghrelin: The endogenous peptide hormone whose action GHRP-6 mimics.
Legal Classification
In most countries, GHRP-6 is classified as an unapproved substance without a valid pharmaceutical marketing authorization.
