Glykoproteine sind Proteine, an die Zuckermoleküle (Glykane) gebunden sind.

Auch in der Biotechnologie – etwa bei der Herstellung von Impfstoffen oder therapeutischen Antikörpern – ist die gezielte Glykosylierung ein entscheidender Faktor für Wirksamkeit und Verträglichkeit. Die Forschung an Glykoproteinen gewinnt daher zunehmend an Bedeutung für moderne Therapien.
