These nerves connect the CNS to the various organs, muscles, glands, and skin throughout the body.
Structure and Function
A peripheral nerve consists of bundled nerve fibers (axons) enclosed by connective tissue. Several fiber types can be distinguished:
- Motor fibers: Transmit movement commands from the brain to the muscles.
