Mechanism of Action
Simethicone works through a purely physical mechanism rather than a chemical one. It lowers the surface tension of small gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines, causing them to coalesce into larger bubbles that can be expelled more easily from the body through belching or passing gas.

The standard adult dose is typically 80–125 mg per dose, taken after meals and at bedtime. Pediatric formulations in drop form are available for infants and children at lower doses. Side Effects
Simethicone is considered one of the safest over-the-counter medications available. Because it is not absorbed into the body, systemic side effects are virtually absent.
